THE OTHER BOOK
Child Safety Standards
THE OTHER BOOK is operated by Oxford Intelligence Limited. We prohibit child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) across our service. These standards apply to all users and to content, accounts, messages and interactions on THE OTHER BOOK. For these standards, a child is anyone under 18. Our Terms of Service separately govern eligibility to use the service.
1 Prohibited content and conduct
You must not use THE OTHER BOOK to create, upload, request, store, share, promote or facilitate child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or to sexually abuse, exploit or endanger a child. This prohibition includes:
- Sexual images, videos or other material depicting or sexualising children, including computer-generated, AI-generated or manipulated material.
- Grooming or establishing contact with a child for sexual purposes, including attempts to move that contact to another service.
- Requesting sexual content or sexual activity from a child.
- Sexual threats, coercion, blackmail or sextortion involving a child.
- Advertising, arranging or facilitating child trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation.
- Links, instructions or other content that facilitates access to CSAM or the sexual exploitation of children.
These rules apply even if someone describes the conduct as a joke, claims consent or says that the material is fictional.
2 Report a concern
Use the reporting option associated with content or an account in the app. In Quiet, use “Report & hide” on an entry or reply. You can also report a child-safety concern directly to michael.hu@oxfordintelligence.co.uk. If you cannot access the app, email remains available.
Include the relevant username, content or account identifier or link, approximate time and a brief description of the concern, where available. Do not download, screenshot, copy, forward or attach suspected CSAM to a report. Identifiers and a description are enough to alert us. Do not investigate or contact the person you are reporting.
If a child may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or police immediately. THE OTHER BOOK is not an emergency service.
3 How we respond
We will review child-safety reports promptly and prioritise concerns involving an immediate risk to a child. When we become aware of CSAM on the service, we will act promptly to remove it or disable access. We will take appropriate action on other CSAE violations, including restricting or suspending accounts and removing content, according to the circumstances.
Our designated child-safety contact will coordinate review, enforcement and any necessary escalation. We will keep only the information and evidence necessary for safety, lawful reporting and applicable preservation requirements, with access limited to those who need it. We will not ask users to redistribute suspected CSAM.
4 Reporting to authorities
We will report confirmed CSAM and other reportable CSAE to the appropriate authority in accordance with applicable law and its reporting thresholds. This includes the National Crime Agency where UK reporting duties apply, or another relevant regional authority or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), as applicable. We will cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities and follow applicable preservation requirements.
5 Privacy
We will handle reports and related personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law. Information may be disclosed where necessary and lawful to protect children, report suspected offences or respond to a valid legal request. We cannot promise absolute confidentiality when disclosure is required or necessary for these purposes.
